The photographs are enlargements of small drawings made by my daughter in 2008
I had used them as book marks and recently found them in John Baldessari/Hans Ulrich Obrist - the conversation series - the original drawings are almost identical.

DAY 2

DAY 1
For this seventh edition, Jonathan Monk suggests, to the visitor of the gallery, a reading of a crime fiction novel, Saint Crapule, by French author Charles Exbraya; novel that he read during one of his trips in Sicily.

A sandwich with a gun inside – like the cover of the book – comes with the reading; a young woman will read the book continuously during the three days of the exhibition.

The documentation is used to make a new photo poster which is installed again and documented in-situ - for each installation the process continues.

Coralie thinking about yesterday, Stéphane thinking about tomorrow
This time, Jonathan Monk is reviving a performance, Olivia Thinking about Tomorrow which has been seen during the exhibition Time Between Spaces, at the occasion of his double exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and at the Palais de Tokyo.
Both characters are sit side by side on a couch placed in the middle of the room where the next exhibition is being installed; the first person is thinking about yesterday and the second one is thinking about tomorrow. This couple, while thinking about past and future temporalities, is, for the artist, a way to escape from a chaotic present and to make a metaphor with this moment of transition.

Blue dot on red car

Blue dot on green car
For this second part, Jonathan Monk will work outside the gallery space. A number of points randomly connected will invade the streets of Paris, in order to question the work of art status, its present form and its relationship to the public and gallery space. One more time, Jonathan Monk will challenge the traditional scheme of an exhibition and will take us along an ephemeral and unique artistic experience.

This unexpected project consists in several installations at the gallery. New and old pieces will be displayed between two exhibitions, between installations and dismantling. These pieces will often relate to each other and to the exhibitions before or after.
